Our Girl Empowerment Program reaches young women being exploited through commercial sex work in Ethiopia, between the ages of 16-25 years of age. We bring hope & freedom through our program by providing quality business training alongside quality emotional and psychological support. We reach an age group and demographic with the highest percentage being sexually exploited. We saw that these young women were not being effectively reached in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Many have deemed these girls too challenging and too difficult to reach, but we believe it is possible and we believe that they are worth it. Together, we can make a global impact in ending sexual exploitation in our lifetime in Ethiopia!

Here are the numbers:

There are 40 to 42 million people being sexually exploited/trafficked across the globe. 99 billion dollars per year is generated from forced exploitation alone.

Many are forced into a life of being exploited, and others find themselves being sexually exploited because of poverty. Regardless of how they got there, we fight for the freedom and dignity of each individual trapped in exploitation. We believe they are worth it.

QUALITY EMOTIONAL & Psychological SUPPORT

We provide emotional and psychological support by offering professional one-on-one counseling, group activities, house visits, group therapy, and follow-up. We believe that healing and restoration come from the inside out (each young woman works on their healing and freedom journey at their own pace). When these girls feel worthy, safe, and loved they are empowered and strengthened to move forward knowing there is hope for their future and a support system to back them up.

QUALITY Business TRAINING

Our business training equips young women who are trapped in sexual exploitation with financial education, vocational training, cooperative saving groups, and even start-up capital for small businesses. After receiving training and the distribution of capital for small business start-ups, women participate in income-generating activities as they launch their own small businesses and individually take steps towards freedom from the sex industry. Every phase of our program is monitored by Arise Global staff to ensure the support and success of each activity and business.

We have had the privilege to rescue and empower 132 young women (graduated and empowered to leave exploitation, and find freedom and hope) and we are just getting started!
